The Kind of Moment That Stays With You
This one came from a place I know well—standing by the shore at night, feeling the pull of the ocean and the light of the moon overhead.
Can You Feel It Now is a 24x36 inch original oil painting that I created over the course of almost two months. It’s about that moment when everything slows—the foam is swirling around your feet, the next wave is building in the distance, and there’s this glowing full moon casting soft light over it all.
I wanted to capture that mix of movement and stillness. That pause before something crashes.
That feeling of being there.
A Painting About Renewal (In More Ways Than One)
This piece didn’t start with a blank canvas. I actually recycled an old, unfinished painting that had been sitting around in my studio—something I wasn’t quite happy with, but couldn’t let go of either.
There’s something I love about that process.
Sanding it down, starting again, letting the texture of what was there shape what’s next.
It gave this piece a kind of layered energy—like it holds more than just one idea.
The Details You Might Miss at First
If you look closely, you’ll see the subtle shifts in surface—brushstrokes from the first version, texture from layers that got painted over. The recycled canvas adds these tiny irregularities that I actually love. They’re imperfect in the best way.
The full moon in the top center shifts the tone of the whole painting. It’s a small detail, but it changes how everything feels. Makes it quieter. A little dreamlike.
Why I’m Proud of This One
This piece asked a lot of me—time, patience, and a willingness to slow down.
I worked on it in phases, stepping away often to see what it needed, letting it evolve rather than trying to control it.
It’s easy to rush, especially when things are busy. But I didn’t.
And that’s why I’m proud of it.
Can You Feel It Too?
Can You Feel It Now recently found its forever home.
Some paintings feel like moments.
Others feel like memories.
This one felt like both.
It’s always bittersweet to say goodbye to a piece that held so much stillness, movement, and reflection—but I’m so happy it’s out in the world, where it’s meant to be.
